Packing for Paris

I always overpack. ALWAYS. Three day trip to Nashville? Six dresses. Week-long trip to Chicago? Eight pairs of jeans. Weekend at the beach? Three pairs of boots. It’s a problem. And for someone who loves planning so much, you would think that I would do a better job of it when it comes to packing. I think what it is for me, though, is that my propensity for planning is far outweighed by my crippling fear of not having enough options, so I throw everything I can possibly fit into the suitcase… juuuuuust in case. This is stupid for many reasons, the main one being that once I get back home I have to then unpack all this shit that I didn’t even/was never going to wear, and unpacking is the piiiiiiiitts.

So, for this week’s post, I wanted to take advantage of my upcoming trip to France (I’m leaving in TWO DAYS YOU GUYS HOLY SHIT!!!) to partake in a little packing challenge. My rules for this challenge were simple:

  1. All of my clothes/ shoes/ accessories have to fit into one carry-on.
  2. Every item I bring has to be able to be used in at least two different outfits.

Now, how I went about actually planning my packing according to these rules is the fun part. I went onto Polyvore, searched for items that were similar to those that I already own, and then started building my outfits from there. I highly recommend this method of outfit planning for a trip, because not only is it rull fun, but it made the actual packing piece delightfully organized and efficient. God bless operational excellence. I didn’t even have to think about what I was doing because I knew that as long as I put everything on my list into the suitcase, I’d have more than enough outfits to last me the entire ten day trip.

So what did I end up with? Read on for my complete list and my inspiration sets from Polyvore!
